On a personal note the outpouring of support from our church family toward me your Pastor has served as a form of confirmation and refreshment this week. The delay we are experiencing because we could not open Pineda POINTE as planned is frustrating, but we rest in God. We are in constant communication with the County and trust we will resolve our issues soon.
Our time together around the subject of “Waiting” this past Sunday (see Recent Media) was well received and many lives were encouraged. However, the challenge to our Vision is constant and real. As the work continues the Enemy is riled up! We know we are up to something amazing so we press on.
- Weekend Worship Experiences
- Children’s Ministry (a systematic Bible education that partners with the Home)
- Student’s Ministry (hands on ministry experiences coupled with our partnership with the Home)
- Adults, (LifeGroups & Life Source)
- Strategic Partners (our local and global efforts to share the gospel)
Delay is not Denial

You know a couple weeks ago I preached a message from the book of James. I shared one principle for daily living from each chapter. It was received very well. You can listen to it under Recent Media.
The first point in the message was based on James 1:2-4-“Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance as a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed you will be strong in character and ready for anything.” The principle we brought out was, a Mature Christian is Positive Under Pressure.
Friday afternoon August 13th the day before our Grand Opening at Pineda POINTE the Fire Marshall paid us a visit I will not soon forget, and consequently informed us that we were under violation of County codes. That our newly remodeled beautiful facility was not going to be permitted to open its doors to the public as a result. What? We reasoned. We fixed everything he noted but one major point. We asked for grace in order to just open and move forward; glad to conform to their standards. Answer, “NO”.
The story is bigger and more complex but the pain very real. But doesn’t God know all this already? Absolutely. Does He have our best interests in mind? Of course. Is it hard to sometimes realize that? Yes. So here’s the bottom line. We are not opening on August 14th. But Noah waited, Joseph waited, and so did Jesus after dying on the cross. He waits for the souls who He died for to come to Him, ‘Not willing that any would perish but that all would come to repentance.’
So, James 1 is in full operation in my heart this morning! Thank God for His word and His precious promises. Delays are not denials in Kingdom work. We will regroup and make it bigger and better when we do open. Who knows we may just start with two services.
Invest and Invite

He calls and sends us in the same manner today in order that we would also give as freely as we have received. Over the next two and half weeks we are focusing all our attention in a massive effort to invite thousands of people to our Cocoa Campus and our new Pineda Campus on the weekend of August 14-15.
Do you think there is anyone in your life that is ready to receive from God?
On this weekend we are creating a destination for all those in your family, neighborhood, team, and work who may be unsaved and unchurched. The collective effort of word of mouth, radio, newspaper, Website, and print all focused like a laser pointing toward one great event will transform lives, our church, and impact our community.
So let's continue to invest and invite and be the church. One that wins souls, offers real help, and connects people to our church family.
“He cuts off every branch that does not produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.” John 15:2

I would like to be so fixated on Jesus that I wake up one morning and realize that I am totally out of touch with the behavior of the man I once was. Not irrelevant or out of touch with culture, but so radically obsessed and preoccupied in the 'one thing I must do' (Phil. 3:13) mentality that going forward for Christ is my one and only occupation. The great missionary David Livingstone once said, "I am willing to go anywhere for God provided it's forward."
That I am so single minded about the finish line, running the race, and 'fighting the good fight' (I Tim. 6:12) that I am excessively captured by our Savior's great love and mission. The Holy Spirit when yielded to will do a marvelous work in us that continually moves us in this direction. When I read the Bible I find very little instruction about holding back. I continually encourage people to remove from their language 'negative limiting vocabulary'. Jesus said in Matthew 9:29, "According to your faith be it unto you."
God constantly draws men and women to enlarge their faith. Think about it; nothing pleases Him outside of faith. We walk by faith not by sight. Those very principles leave faith in the unlimited category. The very nature of God encourages mankind to think in an unlimited fashion. If you could not fail what would you attempt for God? That's a question God loves to hear us ask ourselves.
My heart leaps today when I realize the Bible teaches me to be consumed with Jesus Christ and faithfully live out His words. Tonight when I pillow my head I want to look back on this package of hours called today, and know that I was consumed and totally preoccupied with my Savior's love and purpose.

Word of mouth. This is really cost effective in an expensive world! The biggest influx of people is when your friends bring their friends. You really have to pay attention to the wording in that previous phrase. When your friends bring their friends church growth goes crazy!
Direct mail. It will be the official first week back in school on August 14-15. That spells opportunity! So in conjunction with Word of Mouth the immediate zip codes around Central Ministries at Central Community (
Website. Younger Christians and those looking for a new church are most likely to look at our Website. It has to be sharp, current, and eye popping. The Website serves as the ‘deal closer’. Just last weekend at Central a family came to the first service. I introduced myself and asked them how they learned about us. They said, “Your Website.”
Radio. Our daily program, recently renamed “ReVerb”, airs twice at
There’s even more! Newspaper, free publication ads, letters to businesses, and fliers. All of these things focused on one BIG weekend will create the ‘doubling affect’ taught in the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25). So pray for yourself that you will be a people magnet. And pray for a great burden and brokenness for people without Jesus to overtake the spirit of our fellowship.
Going BIG! part 2

In my previous blog I asked you to begin praying and preparing for a radical season of change in our fellowship as I introduced Going BIG. By that I mean, that Central Community Church is in the process of becoming multi-site. One church in two locations. Central Ministries, now as Central Community and Pineda POINTE.
The praying and preparing is underway. We have started the remodel of the facility at US1 & Pineda Causeway and it it exciting! Beginning the middle of July we are going to begin our 30 march toward doubling the size of our ministry! We are going to pray, work, invite, share the Good News, pray some more, and then witness the results of this radical transformation of our fellowship. We will see between 500-600 people on the Weekend of August 14-15th at our two locations. We're Going BIG!
I really want someone to criticize me of being numbers conscience. I want to shake someone up! And the one I want to shake up first is the Devil. Because I know that adding people to the body of Christ means the Kingdom of God grows worldwide. And if we aren't growing we can't impact the lost world around us. How can we disciple new believers if we are not adding new believers to the fellowship? I want to bust through the 500 barrier by the end of summer.
Interpret the following verse with me. "Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full." Luke 14:23. What do you think? It's certainly not hard to get the picture here is it? You could say, "Canvas your neighborhood. Invite friends and strangers. Compel them to come to church with you and fill up to capacity the space you have." For what reason? In order to present to them the facts of the gospel and the love of God for them! This very prayer turned into action is a motivating force that brings people into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We call it invest & invite. You have people in your life who you are investing in relationally. Invite them to come to church with you on August 14-15. We promise to share the gospel with them.
And you know what? It's the best, most exhilarating fun you will ever have. Creating a party in heaven and a celebration on earth. I can't wait! All I want you to do right now is pray and prepare as we ramp up for this explosion!

This blog is about going BIG at Central this summer. Think on the power of these thoughts for a moment;
- people have small faith because they serve a small god
- people create the future they want
- people get out of life what they expect
We cannot have explosive growth if we do not ask for it. And we cannot have it if we do not prepare for it! The first step on this day is to ask you to pray unusually about and for, explosive growth at Central. "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity." Colossians 4:5. We must continually press ourselves to understand and accept that we must be more concerned about those driving by our church and not coming in, than those who are coming and are already in.
Comfortable Christians are dangerous creatures. Comfortable Christians will be the first to say, "We shouldn't be so interested in numbers." Or, "What about ministering to those who are already here?" What they don't understand is that the main reason they have the empowering of the Holy Spirit is so they will be witnesses. (Acts 1:8). Sharing the good news of Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him is job one in any church. Ironically, the needs of believers always get met when they are fulfilling the Great Commission.
All I am asking you to do right now is begin the praying process over the next couple weeks preparing yourself and our hearts for the explosive growth God is going to bring to Central. We are in miracle territory at Central. If God doesn't intervene spiritually, relationally, physically, and financially, we're sunk! The good news is, God is faithful! He always does His part. Let's just make sure we do our part.

To be quite honest the Pastor is either a stopping point or a catalyst. A bottleneck or a river. When it comes to getting things done, moving forward, expanding influence, or enlarging faith in the life of the church, he (the Lead Pastor) is going to be growing and going or stopping and choking.
Central is at a great turning point in the life of its ministry and future impact. The only reason anyone ever has small faith is because they serve a small God. In this day we are living there is absolutely no reason to not be doing things we have never dreamed of before. Challenging the status quo has always been the modus operandi of Jesus Christ. He is the One who said, "I will build My church and all the powers of hell will not conquer it." (Matthew 16:18). I'd say that's a pretty 'in your face' statement, wouldn't you?
I am pretty fired up these days about Kingdom work. I think the older I get in the Lord the more convictional I get about a few things. At the top of the list is big, audacious faith. I believe God desires fast, awesome, big growth in His church. In a county of our size there are hundreds of thousands of people who are not yet committed to a life of surrender for the cause of Christ. Fact is, we have a big unfinished work to do. A simple look at the church in Acts reveals amazing, big, growth. People were flat out getting saved! First there was Jesus, then there was 12, then there was 120, then there was 3,120, then there was 8,120, and some historians believe that within one year of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus there were at least 20,000 believers connected to the church in Jerusalem!
Here is what I know, believe, and take responsibility for; if our church is not growing, the Pastor better be looking in the mirror and realize he is the problem. If it is growing it is because he was willing to be God's catalyst for it. Plain and simple. Period. This is my confession to you. I am honored, humbled, and privileged to lead a church that Jesus is head over. I am a man like you who simply has been called to this role. It's not about me, it’s all about Him! I just want to create stories that can be told in heaven. I'm 'all in' and enjoying every minute of it.
Central Distinctives part 3

I have often heard people say, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could be an Acts 2 church?" What they mean is, the mighty rushing wind and the tongues of fire coming out of heaven, the three thousand souls saved and baptized, and the amazing fellowship of those first Holy Spirit filled believers. And I say, "Amen, that would be wonderful and possible!" But we can't have an Acts 2 church today without an Acts 1, Empowerment.
When Jesus was about to leave His Apostles He said, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you..." (Acts 1:8). What proceeded from there was their expectation through prayer of Jesus promise. A Central distinctive is that the Holy Spirit empowers the believer after his conversion. This empowering is separate from the initial indwelling of the Holy Spirit that takes place at conversion. There are three words I would like to briefly explain that will enable us to better understand the desire of God for our lives that can manifest itself in similar ways to the believers of Acts 2.
First is the word para which means, alongside. In John 14:16-17, Jesus said he would give another Comforter referring to the Holy Spirit. "For he dwells with you". When we first encounter the Holy Spirit he comes alongside of us and convicts us of our sin and makes us aware that Jesus is the answer for what has been missing in our lives. It's at this time that Jesus forgives us of our sin as we invite Him into our lives.
Second, is the word en and is just like our word 'in'. Jesus said in John 14 that not only will the Holy Spirit come alongside us but as a result of convicting us of our sin He will then 'come in'. (cf. Ephesians 1:13-14) He will be in you. He takes up permanent residence in our lives and becomes our guide and teacher in the Word of God. If you will read John 16:13-14, Ephesians 5:18, I Corinthians 6:19-20, these scriptures will help you with the broader picture of the work of the Holy Spirit in your life.
Third, is the word epi which Jesus is referring to in Acts 1:8 and is different and separate from the first two. He said the "Holy Spirit will come upon you". He comes along, in, and then 'on' the believer. He will come 'over' you. He will 'overflow' in your life. Picture a glass of water with a sponge next to it. The water is the Holy Spirit and you are the sponge. He comes alongside you. Then picture the water being poured into the sponge. Now it is in you. Then picture a pale of water and the sponge being submerged in the pale. As you pull the sponge up out of the water it overflows the sponge. That is you and I being empowered by the Holy Spirit to become the mighty witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of earth that Jesus said we would be in Acts 1:8.
The Apostles, after witnessing Jesus ascend back into heaven then followed His directions to go back to Jerusalem and wait while praying for the Holy Spirit to come 'upon' them, and He certainly did! Now as the result of an Acts 1 obedience they experienced an Acts 2 manifestation of the mighty working power of the Holy Spirit upon them.
My dear friends, we are becoming all that God intends us to be and do as we submit ourselves to the word of God and truly desire and yield to the Holy Spirit. We can be changed, our homes can be changed, our church can be changed, our city can be changed and our world can be changed! But only through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit as He overflows our lives.

Having a great Vision from God is a sure way to keep yourself moving forward in life. At first you get an idea or you have a dream and think to yourself, "I believe this is something God is really making clear to me." Then you pray, think about it, imagine the implications, the pros and cons, and maybe talk to a couple trusted friends (who won't laugh at you when you tell them your idea or dream). At first, you work on it. It consumes you. You may even try to forget about it, but it won't go away!
Eventually, you realize it's real, pure, and very exciting! And then, you take the leap. You make the commitment. You say to yourself, "I'm in! I'm doing this!" You see, you worked on it, and then, it worked on you! It becomes convictional. It's no longer just a passing thought that sounded like a good idea. You now believe it must happen. It is now a preferable future based on a conviction that something is going to be missing in this world if you don't follow this dream. Now it is a matter of obedience, and to not fulfill it would be disobedience to God who gave you the dream in the first place.
There are many great Bible characters who did amazing things for God who went through this process: Noah and the building of the Ark; Joseph and his dream to one day rule and lead; Moses leading the children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage. All of these had something in common with us - they developed a great Vision birthed in the heart of God to fulfill their ultimate purpose on this planet.
This is how we have arrived at this point in becoming a multi-site fellowship. For those of you who were with us in the fall of 2008 we unveiled the 25-Year Vision God gave us through much prayer and processing. To date, this is the most bold step we have taken in the fulfillment of this great Vision. You never know how the road may turn but when the 'north star' of your Vision is guiding you, you just keep following and allowing God to determine the best pathway to your destination. This is exactly what we are doing. We are following the plan God has laid for us. We are proving that it is "impossible to please God without faith." (Hebrews 11:6).
It would be the easiest thing in the world to sit back and just go along in life like floating down a lazy river on a warm summer afternoon. We see a greater purpose and we are willing to step out into the deep waters of complete surrender and absolute trust, believing that where God guides us He will also provide every resource we need to complete the good work He has called us to. Did you know that 80% of all people who come to a church for the first time do so because a friend invited them? Not the Yellow Pages (definitely old school). Not an email, or radio/TV ad. Not a church sign with a pithy phrase like, "Want to go to heaven, see inside". God deliver us from church signs! No, it's still the old fashioned way. You say, "Hey, want to go to church with me?" Your friend says, "Sure, thanks for asking." George Barna reports that there are 64,000,000 Americans who would go to church if someone invited them! Can you believe it? You should. Think about it. Most Americans believe in God (90% plus) and are friendly toward the church even if they don't go.
Here's my point today. If we have two hundred regular attendees at Central who qualify as far as understanding and being able to invite friends to church; and if those two hundred over the summer went out each week and invited ten people to come to our new campus opening in August that would be 24,000 conversations and invitations to attend opening night August 14th. If only 2% of those showed up that would be FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY people for our first service!! Absolutely incredible.
Luke 14:23-"...Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full". - Jesus
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about this summer - people coming to church and receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!
Talk it up!

I'm sure we have all noticed how fast certain kinds of news can travel. When an emergency occurs on a national level or when someone is hurt in an accident and is rushed to the hospital. Usually, things that are negative move extra fast. Word of mouth can spread like wildfire. Some would say it's still the best form of communication and I tend to agree. Especially when it comes to the work of the church. In times of persecution the church has always thrived and revealed a pattern of spreading more rapidly because people talked it up even in secrecy.
The gospel of Jesus Christ can move fast, it just depends on 'how' it is communicated. We have a timeless message that must be communicated in a culturally relevant manner in this era we are living in. If we expect people to open their hearts and minds to it we have to be keen to the nature of the culture with which we are dealing. Of course it is our responsibility to share the good news, and it is the work of the Holy Spirit to convict of sin and bring people into saving faith. I want to touch on two things in this blog. The need to be witnessing our faith (word of mouth) and 'talking up' our new church plant.
Witnessing our faith requires a conscience effort on our part to be aware of our surroundings and sensitive to the Holy Spirit encounters we are provided with everyday. When we carry an urgency in our spirit man, and a quiet calm in our demeanor we will be 'ready carriers' of the good news to those around us. Notice how Paul tied these two thoughts together in II Corinthians 4:13-"But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, 'I believed in God, and so I speak'". Remember, everyone deserves to know how much God loves them.
Now, in the same spirit think about 'talking it up' when it comes to our new church campus. Jesus said, "I will build my church". (Matthew 16:18). As we expand our ministry to a new location we are opening up a whole new field of service for sake of the Kingdom. Tell everyone every where about it! You never know how interested they may be. And you never know whom they know, that may live in that proximity and want to come. We are starting two Catalyst groups in two weeks for new people who will help us start up this new church. One will be in Suntree and the other in Indian Harbor Beach. We plan to add a couple more, so get the word out. It's new and people like new. It's exciting and people like exciting! I am promoting it on the radio and you can promote it by 'word of mouth'.
Great Mall of America

I thought the title of this blog may catch your attention. I am writing from the Great Mall of America in Minneapolis. It serves as a perfect backdrop to my thoughts this morning. This place is the result of one stupendous vision. Walt Disney would have been proud of this one.
I spent the last two days in Board Meetings with the International Ministerial Fellowship (IMF) led by Frank and Carol Masserano who have become great friends of D'anae and me. We were brought together five years ago when Frank and I became board members of Bridges for Peace. Franks leads a fellowship of Christian workers and churches with 1250 members. I am honored to serve on this Board and the relationship we have developed is going to be a tremendous asset to the ministry of Central in years to come.
When I left home Thursday morning I felt the typical, "Oh no, I'm leaving town and there is too much that needs my attention at home!" Which is usually a sure sign that I need to be gone a couple days and let God settle my heart and mind and reorient me a little bit. It's not my job to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. He's God, I'm not; and He's really good at His part. Anyone relate? So here I sit in the Great Mall of America with several hours before my flight thinking about you, my spiritual family of whom I am deeply proud.
During the board meetings, God graciously gave me the privilege to meet more of His choice servants. Not only did I get to share the amazing story unfolding at Central, but I also found out that people love to hear about churches starting up in Harley dealerships. But more importantly was the affirmation and confirmation that my fellow ministers gave me. They so resonate with God's dreams and visions. We soar in the Spirit with and for each other. We do have a great affinity among us. To my dear Central family, I want you to know that God is doing a great work in us and we cannot be distracted from the vision He has seen fit to birth in us. Your faithfulness and zeal is going to affect lives locally and globally! The glory will be to God's steadfast and sure purpose to build His church and see to it that the nations hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is our consuming passion.
Tomorrow is a big day for us and another step in the journey leading us to the promised land of our vision. I am praying for you today as I sit in one of the monuments that American creativity and ingenuity has built in our great land. I am reminded that we serve the true God who encourages us to put a restriction on limitations and to expand our hearts and minds to live in exuberant faith, outrageous courage, and bold committment. We cannot settle for anything less than crazy love for the God who is crazy about us!

It was a great night! As advertised the Central family was invited to an Open House at our new location for a second campus. That site is the old Harley Davidson dealership on US1 just north of the Pineda Causeway. It's a 26,000 square foot facility that we will transform into a church campus making the total square footage of Central 38,000 square feet with our current campus. We praised and prayed as we dedicated this facility to our God. Ninety two people walked the new campus envisioning what could be and what should be when we open its doors in August.
Over the next 110 days Central will enter the Pre Launch phase of this new church plant. This weekend at our current campus we will receive a cash offering & a weekly commitment from now until Christmas to cover the start up cost of this work. When the new campus opens it will be a Saturday Night experience. Our current staff will administrate the organization of this new fellowship. Our current campus will continue to operate as it is on Sunday mornings. Yes, it will be a lot of work as we double our efforts for the next months. Your participation is welcome! We have begun recruiting leaders to launch the effort. Once we are in operation we will be building a fellowship of new people and they of course will become the future of that fellowship. Our goal with the current church is to give this new fellowship its needed help to get established. Central is officially one church with two locations! I am already imagining the first time we manage to have a weekend experience and get both our campuses at one location for a celebration. Imagine twice as many people as we currently minister to making friends and realizing we are part of growing fellowship covering the Space Coast in a new way.
As I wrote in my first blog on this subject (see below) Central now joins 5,000 other churches across America that have gone to multiple locations. I want to thank the Central family for your willingness to reach out in new and innovative ways to reach more people for our Lord Jesus Christ. The church in Acts as we know grew prolifically meeting in the Temple courts and homes. Open air services and neighborhoods in Jerusalem. Thousands and thousands came to Lord as the gospel spread. A 'whatever it takes' mentality, for sure. May we never be content to settle for the status quo, always willing to do as the Lord leads us to reach those who have yet to learn of God's great love for them.
